Festival / ADE Protest Music Special
Location: Studio/K, Amsterdam
During ADE’s Friday night, we’ll start with a critical panel discussion on protest music, social activism and the role of music in community building, speaking to a wide variety of revolutionary artists and social organizers. The discussion will be followed by a live music session: partially prepared repertoire but also largely improvised. The houseband of Afrogrooves, together with special guest Kiala Nzavotunga (Egypt80), will open the session, paying tribute to the incredible protest music of Fela Kuti. What is the relevance of Fela’s music today in the Dutch local context? Afterwards we’ll continue with an open jam session where all musicians can join. Make sure to bring your instruments!
