‘Shell and the art of protest’ comprises three programmes that reflect on the role of Shell in Indonesia, Nigeria, Suriname and Curaçao. We look at the colonial past and the neo-colonial present, and at the broader theme of climate justice. In this programme, we join artists and activists in looking at Nigeria.
In an interactive program, the public gets down to work themselves. Under the supervision of Nigerian-Dutch visual artist Janne Igbuwe, they work on an artwork made especially for this program – a protest banner.
The programme is followed in the Tolhuistuin Club by Fela’s Day: a musical tribute to Fela Kuti, with performances by Fulu Muziki, Raul Monsalve y Los Forajidos and BCUC.
NB! If you buy a ticket for Fela’s Day, you get free admission to this session. The discount code is in the e-mail confirming your ticket purchase.
